چکیده

We pursue the idea of assessing chiral restoration via in-medium modifications of hadronic spectral functions of chiral partners. The usefulness of sum rules in this endeavor is illustrated, focusing on the vector/axial-vector channel. We first present an update on obtaining quantitative results for pertinent vacuum spectral functions. These serve as a basis upon which the in-medium spectral functions can be constructed. A novel feature of our analysis of the vacuum spectral functions is the need to include excited resonances, dictated by satisfying the Weinberg-type sum rules. This includes excited states in both the vector and axial-vector channels. We also analyze the QCD sum rule for the finite temperature vector spectral function, based on a ρ spectral function tested in dilepton data which develops a shoulder at low energies. We find that the ρ′ peak flattens off which may be a sign of chiral restoration, though a study of the finite temperature axial-vector spectral function remains to be carried out.

Chiral symmetry aspects in the open charm sector

QCD sum rules serve as tools to investigate changing hadronic properties in a hot and/or dense nuclear medium. The role of chiral symmetry breaking and restoration effects in a medium can be addressed also in the heavy-light meson sector. Thus, we consider Weinberg sum rules which refer to chiral partner mesons composed of a light and a heavy quark.

Dropping Ρ and a 1 Meson Masses at the Chiral Phase Transition in the Generalized Hidden Local Symmetry *

In this contribution to the proceedings, we present our recent analysis on the chiral symmetry restoration in the generalized hidden local symmetry (GHLS) which incorporates the rho meson, A1 meson and the pion consistently with the chiral symmetry of QCD. It is shown that a set of parameter relations, which ensures the first and second Weinberg sum rules, is invariant under the renormalization...

Deconfinement and chiral-symmetry restoration in finite temperature QCD

QCD sum rules are based on the Operator Product Expansion of current correlators, and on QCD-hadron duality. An extension of this program to finite temperature is discussed. This allows for a study of deconfinement and chiral-symmetry restoration. In addition, it is possible to relate certain hadronic matrix elements to expectation values of quark and gluon field operators by using thermal Fini...

Vector mesons in Quasilocal Quark Models

We consider the Quasilocal Quark Model of NJL type including vector and axial-vector four-fermion interaction with derivatives. In the presence of a strong attraction in the scalar channel the chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken and as a consequence the composite meson states are generated in the vector and axialvector channels. The appropriate set of Chiral Symmetry Restoration Sum Rules i...

Determination of the temperature dependence of the up- down-quark mass in QCD

The temperature dependence of the sum of the QCD upand down-quark masses, (mu +md) and the pion decay constant, fπ , are determined from two thermal finite energy QCD sum rules for the pseudoscalar-current correlator. This quark-mass remains mostly constant for temperatures well below the critical temperature for deconfinement/chiral-symmetry restoration. As this critical temperature is approac...
